Performance – Nissan Sunny in India

The Nissan Micra took the Indian market storm and there were loads of questions asked about a sedan version of it. Nissan took heed to this and voila the famous Nissan Sunny was converted to the Micra sedan. Nissan Sunny has been experiencing a global decline in its sales and Nissan has noticed this. For this reason they have used they new best seller, the Micra to boost sales of its Sunny model. When I say use the Micra I mean that Nissan has decided to build the new Sunny on the same Micra platform albeit making the Sunny more of a family sedan.

The 2011 Nissan Sunny is expected to be released in both petrol and diesel versions and is expected to be a 1.5 liter, four cylinder, 16 valve engine that is capable of producing a maximum of 100 horsepower as well as a maximum torque of 146 Nm. The Nissan Sunny is to be based on Nissan’s V-Platform and the power specs of the Sunny would make it a competitor of the Fiat Linea, Hyundai Verna, Honda City, Maruti Swift Dzire, Tata Indigo Manza and Ford Fiesta.

The petrol version of the sunny could use a supercharged version of the Micra engine and sources from Nissan claim that it could be manufactured at Nissan’s plant in Chennai where presently the Micra is being produced. Fuel efficiency of the Sunny is also expected to be very competitive as compared to other rivals in its segment and it gives 13 km/l in the city and 17 km/l while driving on the highway.
