1. China test fires 10,000-km range nuclear missile
i. China has flight tested an upgraded version of its 10,000-km range Dongfeng missile which can reach most of the US and European cities, demonstrating its nuclear capability, media reports said.
ii. The People’s Liberation Army (PLA) launched a Dongfeng-31B on September 25, days before its October 1 National Day from the Wuzhai Missile and Space Test Centre, also called Taiyuan Satellite Launch Centre in Shanxi province, Hong Kong-based South China Morning Post said quoting US media reports.
iii. The DF-31B is an upgraded version of the DF-31A and the launch was at least the second time the PLA’s Second Artillery Corps had tested a DF-31 missile in the past three months.

Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan on 4 October 2014 received Global Diversity Award 2014 at the Britain’s House of Commons. He was conferred the award by House of Commons speaker John Bercow for his outstanding achievements in the field of cinema and his involvement in philanthropic endeavours.

Earlier, Shah Rukh has been honoured with several international awards, like Chevalier de la Legion d'Honneur (France's highest civilian award), Wissame Al Kafaa Al Fikria (Morocco’s highest honour), Malaysian title of Datuk (akin to the British knighthood) and others.

The past recipients of the award include Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai, Hollywood actor Jackie Chan, Sheikh Hasina (Bangladesh Prime Minister), Roberta Gutman, Lewis Hamilton and others.
