Vyapam Scam: Sudhir arrested for constables’ recruitment fraud

Mining baron Sudhir Sharma , who had been absconding in the Vyapam scam case, surrendered before the District and Session’s court on July 25, 2014. He was presented before CJM Pankaj Singh Maheshwari amidst heavy police security on July 26. The court has surrendered him to police remand till July 30, even though the STF had demanded him to be placed under its scrutiny till August 3.

Sudhir Sharma has been arrested on the charges of playing a key role in the police constables’ recruitment fraud. However, at the Special Task Force (STF) office, Sharma reiterated that he is innocent and will be proved so when the true facts about Vyapam scam get revealed. Defence counsel Pratul Shandilya tried to rescue Sharma with the arguments that he had already ‘surrendered’ and STF has interrogated him several times.

Sudhir Sharma has also been charged with sub-Inspectors’ recruitment fraud but STF has not arrested him on that account.

According to the STF DSP DS Baghel, Sudhir Sharma had facilitated recruitment of six candidates as police constables and four candidates to pass the SI test. STF will investigate role of Sudhir Sharma in all the wide-spread net of Vyapam scam recruitment and admission fraud, including MP PMT scam and Milk Federation scam.
